What They Do

Calibration technologists and technicians ensure that measurement and testing equipment operates with precise accuracy across various industries. They spend their days inspecting instruments like gauges, meters, scales, and sensors, comparing their readings against certified standards to verify accuracy. When devices fall outside acceptable tolerances, these professionals make careful adjustments to bring them back into specification. They work in laboratory settings, manufacturing facilities, or hospitals, often maintaining detailed records of all calibration activities and test results for quality assurance and regulatory compliance purposes.
