Child, family, and school social workers help young people and their families navigate challenges that affect their well-being and development. They meet with students, parents, and teachers to address issues ranging from behavioral problems and attendance concerns to family crises and mental health struggles. In schools, they might counsel a student dealing with bullying, coordinate services for a child with special needs, or lead groups on topics like conflict resolution and healthy relationships. When working with families, they assess home situations, connect parents with community resources like food assistance or counseling services, and develop plans to strengthen family dynamics. Some handle sensitive cases involving child welfare, working with courts and agencies to ensure children's safety, arrange foster care placements, or facilitate adoptions.
