Midwives

Provide prenatal care and childbirth assistance.

What They Do

Midwives provide comprehensive care to women throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. They conduct regular prenatal appointments where they monitor the health of both mother and baby, performing physical exams, ordering lab tests, and tracking fetal development through measurements and ultrasounds. During these visits, they also counsel patients about nutrition, exercise, and what to expect during childbirth. When labor begins, midwives coach women through the delivery process, monitoring vital signs and the baby's progress while offering emotional support and pain management techniques. They're trained to handle normal, low-risk births and recognize when medical intervention or a physician's expertise becomes necessary.
