What They Do

Tree trimmers and pruners spend their days working high above the ground, carefully shaping and maintaining trees to keep them healthy and safe. They climb trees using ropes and harnesses or operate bucket trucks to reach tall branches, then use chainsaws, pole pruners, and hand tools to remove dead or overgrown limbs. Much of their work involves clearing branches away from power lines, buildings, and roadways to prevent hazards during storms. They also prune trees to improve their shape and health, removing diseased sections or thinning crowded canopies to allow better light and air circulation.
