What They Do

Chemical equipment operators and tenders monitor and control the machinery that transforms raw materials into finished products through chemical processes. They work in manufacturing plants and industrial facilities, spending their shifts watching gauges, adjusting valves, and ensuring that temperatures, pressures, and flow rates stay within safe operating ranges. These professionals start and stop equipment, add precise amounts of chemicals at specific times, and take samples to test product quality throughout production runs.
