Multiple machine tool setters, operators, and tenders work in manufacturing facilities where they're responsible for running several different types of machines that cut, shape, or form metal and plastic parts. Throughout their shift, they move between various pieces of equipment, monitoring each machine's operation, making adjustments to maintain quality, and switching out completed parts for new workpieces. They set up machines by installing the correct tools, entering specifications into computer controls, and running test pieces to ensure everything is calibrated properly.
