Nuclear Monitoring Technicians

Nuclear monitoring technicians spend their days collecting and analyzing samples to detect radiation levels and ensure nuclear safety. They use specialized instruments like Geiger counters and dosimeters to measure radioactivity in air, water, soil, and surfaces around nuclear facilities, power plants, or research laboratories. Much of their work involves systematic sampling, carefully recording readings, and comparing results against safety standards to identify any contamination or abnormal radiation levels.
