Audiovisual Equipment Installers and Repairers

Install, repair, or adjust audio or television receivers, stereo systems, camcorders, video systems, or other electronic entertainment equipment in homes or other venues. May perform routine maintenance.

What They Do

Electronic home entertainment equipment installers and repairers bring modern technology into people's homes and keep it running smoothly. They travel to residential locations to set up complex audio and video systems, including surround sound speakers, large-screen televisions, streaming devices, and whole-home entertainment networks. When equipment malfunctions, they diagnose problems by testing components, checking connections, and using specialized meters and diagnostic tools to identify faulty parts. Their work involves mounting televisions on walls, running cables through walls and ceilings, configuring wireless networks, and programming universal remotes and control systems. They also calibrate audio systems for optimal sound quality and adjust picture settings for the best viewing experience.
