What They Do

Environmental restoration planners spend their time bridging scientific research and real-world conservation action. They analyze data from ecological surveys and field studies, then translate complex findings into concrete restoration strategies that teams can actually implement. Much of their work happens in an office setting, where they create detailed plans for recovering degraded ecosystems like wetlands, forests, or coastal areas. They review site assessments, determine which native species should be reintroduced, and establish timelines for restoration phases. However, they also make regular site visits to assess conditions firsthand and meet with field biologists, contractors, and land managers to ensure projects stay on track.
