What They Do

Construction and maintenance painters transform and protect structures by applying paint, stain, and various coatings to surfaces both indoors and outdoors. They spend their days preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and removing old paint or rust, then carefully applying finishes to walls, ceilings, buildings, bridges, heavy machinery, and equipment. Much of the work involves using brushes, rollers, and spray guns, along with mixing paints to achieve the right color and consistency for each project.
