What They Do

Computer systems analysts serve as the bridge between business needs and technology solutions, spending their days evaluating how organizations use their computer systems and identifying opportunities for improvement. They meet regularly with managers and employees to understand workflow challenges, then analyze existing hardware, software, and network infrastructure to diagnose problems. Much of their time involves creating detailed reports, designing system modifications, and testing new configurations to ensure they'll work effectively. They often collaborate with programmers and IT specialists to implement changes, translating technical requirements into language that non-technical stakeholders can understand.
