Document Management Specialists

Implement and administer enterprise-wide document management systems and related procedures that allow organizations to capture, store, retrieve, share, and destroy electronic records and documents.

What They Do

Document management specialists organize and maintain digital filing systems that keep track of important business records and documents. They set up and manage the software platforms where companies store everything from contracts and invoices to employee files and project documentation. On a typical day, they might upload new documents into the system, create filing categories that make sense for different departments, and ensure that files are properly tagged so employees can easily search for what they need. They also establish rules for how long different types of documents should be kept and when they can be deleted to comply with legal requirements.
