What They Do

Financial quantitative analysts work at the intersection of mathematics, computer science, and finance, developing sophisticated models to guide investment decisions and manage financial risk. They spend their days analyzing vast datasets, writing computer code to test trading strategies, and building mathematical models that predict market behavior or price complex financial instruments like derivatives and options. Much of their work takes place in front of computer screens in the offices of investment banks, hedge funds, asset management firms, or financial technology companies.
