What They Do

Economics teachers at the college and university level guide students through the complexities of how societies produce, distribute, and consume goods and services. They prepare and deliver lectures on topics ranging from microeconomic theory and macroeconomic policy to international trade, labor markets, and econometrics. Beyond standing at the front of a classroom, these professors develop course curricula, create assignments and exams, and spend considerable time grading student work and providing feedback. They hold regular office hours to meet with students individually, helping them grasp challenging concepts or discuss research projects.
