What They Do

Auto damage appraisers inspect vehicles after accidents or other incidents to determine the extent of damage and estimate repair costs. They carefully examine damaged cars, trucks, or motorcycles, photographing the damage and documenting every dent, scratch, broken part, and mechanical issue. Using specialized computer software and their knowledge of vehicle construction and repair techniques, they calculate how much it will cost to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition. These professionals work closely with body shops, mechanics, and policyholders to negotiate fair repair estimates and ensure everyone agrees on the scope of work needed.
